Whats the motherboard model etc??

$174 is a lotttt of jack for a motherboard....where you thinking of buying that from at that price?? I imagine we could find one a lot cheaper.

Should be able to get a great one for less than $100

OIC now, that was for board and cpu...phew, thats more reasonable. Still, what vendor are you looking at. Everyone here really likes www.newegg.com (and a few others also) for prices and for service.

... maybe think about something like this:

Asus Motherboard for AMD Athlon XP Processors, Model# A7N8X-X Retail Specifications: Supported CPU:AMD® Athlon™XP/ Athlon™/ Duron™ 600MHz ~ 3000……………. $72.99

AMD Athlon XP 2200+/266 FSB Processor CPU - Retail Box $72.00

GEIL 256MB PC-3200 (400MHz) DDR RAM, 6 Layer Ultra Low Noise Shielded .. $42.00

Foxconn Super Case All BLACK Model# PC-146 w/400W Mustang Power Supply -with front USB ports retail... $30.00

a little more than $200 but not much...

All from Newegg

Send a message via ICQ to washe
Havent tried that mainboard but I have read that Nforce2 chipsets are better than VIA.. just my 5 cents..

Check this board
http://secure.newegg.com/app/specifi...tem=13-131-436 (117 bucks its a little more expensive but i can say its a elite board, you have all you need and more with this one)

The processor its a Athlon XP 2400 $81.00

Grand total $198 both items has free shipping... depends on your state for taxes..

Plus I can say I have one and Im very pleased...

After read your the processor you posted doesnt has fan, you will have to build some paste and a new fan....
