Outlook Express & MSN Messenger(s) error

Using the latest OE, I installed the newest version of MSN messenger,6.0 i think, never having used messenger before. When I open OE to read mail I get a box popping up "Could not write xxxx xxxx xxx something " Click ok to terminate this program.
I do notice when I open OE, a messenger icon appears in the task bar momentarily then goes away. If I use task manager to end the process msnmgr.exe it will be ok. Did I say I am using win2k pro? any ideas?

In Outlook Express, Options, General tab you have a checkmark for running MSN Messenger at Outlook Express startup....or something like that.

I just installed the 6.1 on a computer I was working on last night. Rebooted to finish the installation and AVG immediately caught a trojan.

I don't know if this could be related in any way.

Cheers!
