Kids FX5200 bad card?!?!?help

Hey there guys, Im new to this forum, i like the results ive been reading apon. I was wondering. I play alot of games, but on a strict budget

Current Specs:
AsusX533 MoBo
256mb pc133 ram(i kno i need upgrade)
2.4g Celeron
TNT2M64 video card
Windows XP Pro

I know the system is good, but i was wondering, Would a FX5200 be good for an avid gamer???im not talking like Doom3 or HL2, i mean current games like UT2003. Will this card give me good performance for like $100 CAD???

If not, please give me a cardthat is better for the same price.

P.S. i hear people saying that this card will be able to run HL2 and Doom3, not full settings, but it will run it adequetly, is this true?!?!?!

Please help me as I am in desperit need of a good gfx card, thanks in advance

Is that $100 Canadian?
Well... for that budget, I think that this card is your best bet.
But I also think that the price on the Geforce 4 TI 4200 is falling fast so check the prices on this card as it is a MUCH BETTER performance than that FX.!

i believe it will perform proportional to the price... i mean, i play ut2k3 and BF1942 and halo on my geforce 4mx440...

9600np would be a better upgrade, Last I remember the Connect3D one was highly praised and was only $110 at Newegg.com, and if you don't NEED DX9.0 a Radeon 9100 or Geforce 4 TI 4200 would be better cards then a 5200 Ultra

STAY AWAY FROM THE 5200! I used a friends for a week and almost shot myself. I was getting HORRIBLE frames compared to my GeForce3 Ti200!!!!! Just do your self a favor and spend the moolah on a 9600pro or NP whatever. You'll be satisfied!

....

wait, like my friend has a 9000 pro, and from what I hear, thats not a good gaming card, yet everygame he plays he maxes it out. so like what is better;
Radeon 9000 pro
Radeon 9100
Radeon 9200
FX5200?

THose are really the only cards i can afford at the moment

NOTE: I can also get a Xabre 400 128mb video card, please help me get the best card for the money, and please dont say anything too high, because i wont be able to buy it anyway, thanks

512 ddr 2700 333 ram
gigabyte board...kt 600 400 FSB

used it for a month or so had no problems..but if you want the extra FPS etc. the 9600 pro is a good card..that is what i upgraded to. went from 5000 benchmarks 3d 2001 se to 11500 .

I don't understand all the bad press the FX5200 gets. Sure, it's not the best card, but it's not a bad card. I used it for a couple of months on my 800mhz Pentium III (4x AGP) with no problems. Moved it to my new P4c 2.4ghz (8x AGP) and no problems there. Works great on Madden 2004 and Links 2003. I also get great DVD output.

Food

THe fx5200 isn't a bad card...i had no problems out of it and it ran great on nascar 4 and madden. but some of the higher games and the benchmarks caused me to due further research which proves the radeon 9600 pro 128 was a better card for what i needed. Depends on what you need. Plus the people in the PC stores that push the fx5200 and tell false benchmarks put a bad rep on the card.
