via apollo pro and geforce 4 mx SE-help

hello. i have a problem with the graphic card. i´m having major slowdons in allmost every games, for example 30fps in quake 3, and contacted the vendor from the card that said
"if your mobo chipset is via apollo pro(no via apollo pro 133A),it only
support AGP2X,so this graphics card can't work fine on it.the card maybe too
hot,because this card is AGP4X 1.5V,but your mobo AGP solt is AGP2X 3.3V.you can
try to change one mobo"
Shouldn´t the card work in agp2x too? Could it burn or damage hardware if i do not remove it?

I do need a little more information. I checked at the Via web site and they have the 'Apollo Pro chipset as an Intel Slot 1. Please identify your motherboard and chipset with whatever processor it has; and I'm sure If I can't help, that some other person will be able to help you.

The graphics card is backward compatible to 2x AGP, else it wouldn't work - it wouldn't even plug in, in fact.

The AGP mode is nothing to do with slowdowns however, because AGP transfers hardly ever happen at all. It's all marketing hype.

But looking at how you have an old Pentium III system there, paired with quite a weak graphics card, what are you wondering about? Slow system equals slow performance.
