setting home page

How do I stop web sites from automatically planting their site into my favorites and also setting as my home page?
Thanks
Naz

I haven't had this happen. Perhaps if you'd tell us which browser you're using and who is your ISP, someone could recommend a solution.

It's called hijacking...

run Adaware and Spybot...

you should also consider runing a browser like mozilla.

Alot of times it happens when you visit some of "those" sites... But could also be some sort of Spyware/Adware.

Download Ad-Aware 6.0 and run it to see what it turns up.

safest method by far is to avoid IE

Using an alternative browser you won't have to worry about problems like that

You don't need 4 or 5 3rd party apps to constantly keep spyware that IE invites with open arms onto your machine, and to control popups and to control hijacking and to add features and..and..and...

Opera Or mozilla.org will do everything just fine in one package

I like and use Opera as well , but one can also just disable ActiveX and Java via the IE security interfance, or set to prompt for user approval when loading these web extensions.

BTW, a simple rule based and/or pattern matching content filter proxy works well for removing these pesky annoyances for any web browser.

Try out Firebird from Mozilla.org... Once you go to tabbed-browsing, you'll never go back...
