Shell out the extra bucks and get a nice dual-action airbrush. You get more control over paint flow and airpressure to create some really nice effects. Then practice, practice, practice before even getting close to your case. Most quality kits come with nicely detailed instruction booklets.

Agreed. I've got a nice D/A and an airbrush compressor. I used to have the single action and it sucked having to adjust the spray pattern, test, adjust, test... If this is only a one time thing though, go with a cheapy and get a good masking material from an art supply shop, that way all you have to do is fill in the lines, instead of making your own.

The air compressor is nicer offering a nice consistent air supply. But if you don't have the cash for one, canned air works.

Heck, you could use a full sized tire for air if you really need to....I had an adapter that would allow me to tap the tire valve, so my duration was all dependant on the size of the tire and the amount of pressure I put in it. Works great in a pinch, and cheaper than canned air ( which gets expensive ).

If you just plan on making geometric patterns, I'd recommend just getting a cheapy airbrush from a hobby shop and a material to make your designs from. This is a liquid frisket, you can also get self adheasive frisket/masking materials. http://www.dickblick.com/categories/friskets/
