Radeon VE and Game Launch Problems
Hi there, Firstly I hope someone can help me as I have spent a few hours trying to fix this with no success...
Basically ever since I installed a Radeon VE 64MB video card into my machine I have been unable to launch any games, I believe (and this is only believe as I have no other idea!) that this is due to the fact that my device manager thinks I have two monitors installed. One is listed as my usual plug and play and the other as unknown. I have tried various combinations of installing and un-installing all relevant drivers, I have eventually ghosted the machine back to its original state, and then again attempted to fix it. Without the radeon drivers i had only one monitor but not enough colours available to launch games as soon as I installed the latest driver from the website I had an unknown monitor back!!!
I have no real idea what to do now, does anyone know how to stop windows looking for this monitor as everytime I uninstall and restart it obviously comes back... - Can I amend any files to stop this from starting up so I can at least prove / disprove this is the issue...
If anyone has any other suggestions I would be very grateful as I use this machine just to play my games and I cant and I am getting very frustrated!
Am running win 98 with 256 ram PII 450mhz

Well, the Radeon VE is dual monitor capable. If you got nothing connected to the 2nd monitor output, then don't enable it in Display Properties.
Other than that, you need to have a recent DirectX installed to run games.

disabling the unknown monitor makes no difference, when I launch up a game it starts up goes to a black screen then hangs, no music, no picture nothing...

Yes, he said that in the first thread. That should be Catalyst 3.10
This is a PCI card, right? What is your motherboard, and what video adapter were you using before - onboard, integrated, or another card (AGP or PCI)?
Is your BIOS set to PCI for Primary Display?

Download, install and run this - it will identify your motherboard and chipset.
So if I read this right, you had the Voodoo in your AGP and now the Radeon in that slot?
