Abit IS7 SATA related problem

I have two systems built with a IS7 motherboard, one belongs to a friend, the other to myself. My friend is running a single SATA hard drive, myself i'm running two in RAID. both computers have the same problem, being that the hard disk activity light doesn't work. Has anyone else run into this problem and/or found a fix for it?

Yes i have the latest bios on both boards, same problem before and after flashing to the latest version.

I'll look at the manual in a few, but have you tried messing w/ the connector on the mobo? I've seen too many manuals that have the pins reversed from the mobo.

Check your mobo revision. According to Abit, on the revision 1.0 IS7 mobo's the HDD LED activity light on SATA was not a feature. It was later added to the v1.2 boards.

I just read what Atomic Rooster posted here <-- I don't mean he posted this info at this link

Quote:
IS-7 Rev 1.0

Does not Will not ever have HD LED activity on S-ATA

Spoke to Support at Abit and he said HD LED activity on S-ATA was not a feature but on listening to customer suggestions(Complaints) on rev 1.2 they addes HD LED activity among other fixes.

Rev 1.0 works as by designed they say as E-IDE has HD LED activity. S-ATA doesn't, Serial is not IDE but for us we don't think of S-ATA HD as being nothing but HD so you would think that when we connect the HD LED to the MLB we will hav HD LED activity on a HD. Ah but that's logical thinking. Who said Abit does anything logicaly LOL
IDE LED Search on Abit's Forums
