CPU GPU HD Temps - What's Normal?

Hi folks

I don't know what the acceptable temperature ranges are for my Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. I've entered the description of my system below.

Right now as I type these are the temps:

CPU: 50
GPU: 54
HD: 57

One of my fans doesn't seem to be working even when I try to activate it with fanGUI. I don't know if I should be freaking out yet or not. Do those temperatures seem ok for my system?

For a laptop, I don't think those temps are too far off the mark. Laptops always seem to run hotter because there's no good cooling in any of them.

If it's under warranty, you might wanna check to see if you can get it repaired if the fan is really not working. Is the "fanGUI" something that came w/ it, or is that d/l'd software?

It's a d/l http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html

Ya know, I've searched high and low for the answer of what the acceptable limits are for my lap top and I can't find anything.. could it be that it's some guarded secret revealed only to those worthy enough? Gads!

hmmm...not really sure as far as laptops go, but for desktops that's still not too bad. a lot of AMD's run in that range...and my FX 5900 runs between 45-50 usually.

I'd still call up and ask about the fan not working...but if you can't resolve it i wouldn't be too terribly worried...if your cpu goes above 60 though i would be worried

Thanks originel. Yeah, i know i'll have to call Dell.. just not ready for the ordeal with support services yet.

My hd is running 60 right now, is it ok for the hd to go higher than 60?

are you using this laptop on the go or at a desk? i know you can buy a base for the laptop (not sure if it will work w/ yours) that has fans to cool the system down, it runs off your usb port and is powered by your battery, not good if you want the longest battery life but thought you might like to know.

HTH,

The CPU and GPU temps seems fine for a laptop, but 57 (im assumind Celcius) is quite high. You should be able to touch a HD without hurting yourself and 57C is gonna give you quite a burn.

Maybe laptop HD's run taht hot, but desktops HD's burn at that temp.

Im going out on a limb here, but those Temps are quite High.
Laptops do run hotter then desktops, but you can keep those temps in "chek" with a cooler.

I,d be worried If I saw those temps on My Laptop.

Last I checked my desktop
CPU:::32-36C*
GPU:::38-42C*
HDD:::17-28C*

I would figure Laptops would be 5-10 C* higher at most. I have a Sony GRZ-610, but I havn't checked the Temps on it yet. Heat Kills Everything, so the Lower you can Get those temperatures down the Better your laptop will be. Remember, Everything In that Laptop is Hot, Including the Memory, which like the Hard drive and GPU/CPU's, performance suffers all across the board.

GET A COOLER!!!!!!!!!YIKES
