cant get many channels

Hi All!

New to this, but I need help. Approximately 1 year ago I purchased an ati tv wonder ve card, installed it myself, and it worked wonderfully. A recent electrical storm (several months ago) fried my card. I purchase another ati tv wonder ve card, installed it, and now I only get about 5 channels. Many of which I previously watched appear to be "scrambled." Cable is relatively new in my area, and a computer tech friend of mine said the reason is the cable company is now broadcasting a digital signal and that's why my channel selection is limited. Is that the case?, or is there something else I can try?

Welcome to TechIMO!!

I have digital cable and my ATI 8500 recieves 70 channels so I don't think that's your problem.

Are you sure "cable" is selected in your: settings > tv tuner?

And have you "auto-scanned" the stations?

probs with TV Wonder VE

Bill,
Thanks for your response. I had already checked many of the setting you suggested and they were all set correctly. Today I called ATI support and explained my issues. He stated that my card did not support a digital cable signal, nor did any tv card on the market he was aware of.?.?.? While I had the ATI guy on the phone, I checked with my cable provider, Charter Communications on another line, and inquired if they indeed transmitted their signal in digital format, and he replied 80% of their channels are now digitized. I relayed this to the ati guy and he stated that was my problem, and was unaware of any solution.

Thanks and I am still confused.

Vince
