nero 5.5 burning problems

i am operating windows 98 and i do not have any other burning programs running, but everytime i go to burn a cd with nero it will give me an error message and at other times the computer will just shut down. my cd burner is 16x10x40 i don't know if it's the cd's i am using i use memorex 40x music someone was telling me i shouldn't use the cd marked music but sometimes i am able to burn with those i have done everything i can do i went on nero and did everything but nothing is working please someone help me?

its my understanding that music cd are not exactly blank.
get some regular data cd's and have fun
