Kids ps2 to usb, anyone?

hi,

i was curious if anyone had an extra ps2 to usb(not the opposite which comes with most mice today) converter ( for a mouse) laying around that they dont need. i cant see spending 13 bucks at radio shack on it (not even the correct one there i might add)
id gladly pay to ship the little thing as well,
im not one to grub and even if you had a link besides ebay where i could get one of these id appreciate it. thanks

SD

I need a USB-PS/2 one for my mouse, so I can use it with my laptop, my niece was forcing it into a mouse plug and bend it beyond repair.

PS2 mouse and USB port or USB mouse and PS2 port? Sorry I'm confused.

It would be cheaper for you to just get a usb mouse. PS/2 to usb converters are rare and costs alot...

That's what I was trying to look for too but just ended up buying an optical for $12.

no but heres the dilemma: i just bought the logitech MX duo wireless keyboard and mouse. i have it plugged into my ps2 kvm switch which windows only sees as a 3 button mouse and a limited button keyboard. i know this because i plugged straight into the pc and voila, the hardware is seen properly with ALL the proper buttons/functions.

so heres the catch. i will be buying a new kvm switch (4 port unlike my 2 port) which is ALL usb. but the stupid connector for the logitech mouse is, yup, you guessed it, ps2 even though the keyboard is usb.(i cant switch mice because its the same cable)

so if i just put a converter on the end of my mouse............then plug it into the new usb kvm switch when i buy it.....my mouse and keyboard will be seen properly...........hopefully i didnt confuse anyone too much in my long explanation here.

actually i have this keyboard and mouse posted in the sellers thread for that exact reason i was mentioning about the kvm switch but just decided to updgrade that instead.

In theory it should work without the mouse plugged in. If you plug an MX duo into just USB on the back of the computer, it will pick up the mouse and the keyboard. I don't know for sure that it will work with the KVM, but if it passes the usb signal through without altering it, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

you are correct. i plugged only the usb part of the cable directly into my usb port on my pc and voila, it works as the right hardware, mouse and keyboard. guess i dont need the converter at all. thanks for saving me 15 bucks the easy way.

im sure it will be the same on the kvm im hoping. we shall see.
