cd ROM INSTALL

Im trying to install a Mitsumi 54MAX CD ROM. Ive hooked it up but windows doesnt recognize it. It ejects but in My Computer there isnt even a CD drive listed. Please help.

do you have the master/slave on the cd-rom right?

I dont know about the lave part but my operating system is win 98

in the hardware manager, it has the Mitsumi CD rom labeled but it has an exclamation point by it. The following do also:

StandardFloppy disk controller
primary IDE controller
secondary IDE controller

Is this a new build?? Sounds like you need some drivers installed.

What do the exclamation marks say?

yes install the drivers, it should be on a floppy or you can get it from their site most likely

when I check the drivers it says that they already have the best drivers installed

That just means it doesnt see any better ones yet. You need the motherboard disc or else to download the correct drivers. What motherboard is it, do you know?

well, the obvious way would be to look at the motherboard itself. See if it has any markings or brand name etc.

Why dont you tell us more about the machine..you sort of left us in the dark. Is it a new build, is it old? Did you just get it? How long has it been acting up? etc etc etc.

If you reboot there is usually a long string of numbers across the bottom of the screen like

a long string of numbers.

reboot and see if you can get those numbers and we can figure it out from there.

Sometimes you have to boot several times to get em all written down etc (or try to hit pause while booting)
