Systems burning cd's

copying songs to a cd is no problem. I format the disc before, everything seems fine. And than I doublecheck if it's on the cd. I try it out in my car, nothing. It spits the cd out. And it says "ERR" on the display. I tried this now 3 times on cd-r. I even go and make it compartable. Nothing. What am I doing wrong. I'm not a pro. So take it easy.

you don't need to format the CD-R before burning it, try burning without formatting it, formatting is only used for CD-RWs, and many cd-players can't read CD-RW.

also, are you sure you have "finalize CD" checked? If you don't finalize that also might be the problem

How in the world do you format disks?

99% of car stereos can't read cd-RW's. you have to burn songs to CD-R.

Are you burning AUDIO cd's or just mp3 CD's. Pop the cd into a portable cd player and see if it plays. You need to be making Audio CD's.

Try burning at 12x or lower.

burning speed shouldn't matter though if the CD-?? plays in the PC, since that shows that the CD was burned correctly, except in a format that's not readible by non-PCs

The main reason you might "format" a cd is when you are using something like Nero's "InCD" or Roxio's "DirectCD"...that is just a way to make a cd act like a floppy.

But as stated you dont need to do that when making an audio cd.

What you need to do is choose "audio cd" when you go to record it. That way it will record the songs in .cda format...which is what your car stereo needs. You can probably get like 10-15 songs on a disc that way. And one thing usually when you are recording an "audio" cd is that you ened to do it all at once so that the cd isnt "closed" before you get all your songs on it.

So get your songs together first..then do an "audio" cd.

JP

I imagine the songs you already put on the cd's were .mp3's....they wont work in cars or home stereos..only on computers and mp3 players.

what program are you using? I have never had to format a CD-R before burning it, it is already "formatted" when you put it in the drive. What do you mean it will not take anything? What errors do you get when you try to burn a CD-R that's not "formatted"?
