Problems with a new CD/RW drive.

Info :

Drive is a khypermedia (SP?) 52X24X52 Seamless Link CD/RW.

OS is Win98SE
Burning Software is NeroExpress 5.X.X.X

DMA = YES
Set as MASTER one the IDE chain, I'm using the 80 wire type instead of the 40 wire type. Could this be a problem?

Slave on the IDE chain is a 56X CD-ROM. Reads CDs no problems

OK the CD/RW reads CDs just fine, BUT, it won't burn. I keep getting an error that there is not any media in the drive. I've tried a couple different kinds of media. It did find ONCE a 4X CD/RW disk and ID it as such. So any ideas why its not working right.

TIA MAX_C

80 wire is no problem at all.

have you tried some different brands of media?

Whats that other setting...someone help me here....where you pick the recorder?? Is it possible you have the "virtual" one picked?? (or is it called an 'image' burner?? cant remember)

My guess is that your burner is too new for the version of Nero you have installed. Had a similar issue with a unit I installed for my brother. Nero didn't work correctly until I downloaded and applied the update for it.

Belive this will cure your issue as well. Download any/all updates for your version of Nero, and your burner should then be supported and work correctly.

If not, post back what happened after the update and we can work on it further with you.

I've tried a couple kinds of media (different brands). It isn't set to save to disk if thats what you mean. I was trying to burn a file directly from the HD to a cd-r as a test.

The NERO version I'm using came with the burner. But I'll give it a try.

For S&Gs I just put a regular CD-ROM in the drive when trying to record, and it recognized it as a CD-ROM. I think it may just be my media.

The burner will recognize cd-rw and burn to them with no problem, but not cd-r format. Any ideas anyone?
