Creative Nomad Zen

Had the very first one and Windows XP recognized it as a storage device. Now I have the Zen Xtra and my problem is that although Windows detects it as "Nomad Explorer" I can no longer freely move the contents of my Mp3 collection in its current state (organized how I like it).

Basically if i could once again get Windows to recognize it minus Creatives crappy drivers all would be well again. Any one know of this issue and/or a fix for it? I have been googling my butt off and yielded zip.

I DO NOT have the Zen, but an older Nomad Jukebox 3. Creative has an online update (in case you weren't aware). It successfully updated my XP system with the proper drivers. However, be very careful and read what you are choosing to download and install as I did not want Creative's all-in-one media player and it seems to be something they always try to push your way.

Your player must be connected to your PC before you begin the process.

Yes, I have been to Creatives site. They have nothing that lets you move the contents of your folders intact and unchanged. Horrible considering that when I ripped all of my Cd's I did not tag them properly as I prefer just the name of artist and track title, all it shows me when I transfer these to then Zen is Album 1 Track 2 ect ect ect. Looks like i will have to spend some more dough and get the iPod. What a shame, the first Zen rocked. But I smashed that one at work :O(

There is no way in Holy Tucson that Iam going to re-rip every Cd. I have tried that Pc Music library program also. It made a mess of my Collection. It all boils down to the id3 tag you constucted when it was ripped I believe.

I prefer to use Exact audio Copy and LAME to create mp3's, rather than Creatives's software. You must include a proper ID3 tag when the file is ripped (or add one later). Otherwise, when the files are transferred to the player they will be named according to the folder name and track number.

Worse! I entered the Artist and song name in the appropriate boxes when I ripped with Creatives crappy program that came with the Audigy and all it wants to show me in the Zen is Album 1 Song 1, Album 1 Song 2, Album 1 Song 3 ect ect ect.

Way to go on your great drivers Creative, Iam springing another 100 for an iPod, not that its any better much simpler like the original Zen was.
