Ticking...tick, tick, tick AAHHHHHHH!

Phillips Seismic edge sound card. Upgraded from the onboard crap on the ECS KS75a Mobo and we get this horrid ticking like a spark jumping a gap. Sometimes it's not audible, but for the most part it's always ticking through the speakers. I'm going to try and pry the wife off of the computer ( it's hers ) and remove and reinstall the sound card drivers, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem and what the solution was ( besides a new sound card because I paid decent money for this one )

Could be RF interference.

Anything near the box? Cordless phone, mouse, etc.?

Sometimes sound cards pick up noise from the system if it is too close to something generating noise.

Make sure there are no fans next to it, or perhaps a cable. Sometimes moving to a different slot (get it away from other cards) will help.

Could also be a problem with the PSU (noisy or not enough power).

Is she still under warranty? Perhaps an RMA is in order...
Seriously, though, I suppose it is a real possibility. I once had a girlfriend that would KILL a good watch. Something about her body chemistry would literally drain a brand new watch battery in a matter of hours. Sounds a little "twilight zone", but I witnessed it first hand.

You may want to drop the voltage on your wife. Open her hood and pull out her mulex connector. Switch the red and yellow wires for each other. This will produse a 7v wife in stead of the 12v wife you presently have now.

Listen for ticking sound.

Cheers!

PS: I give it about 25 years and this advice won't be so much Sci-Fi....lol
