I am trying to install a program that is off of a floppy disk for a class I am taking. The problem is every time I try to run the install program, it reads the disk for alittle bit then says, "A:/Install.exe is not a valid Win32 application". I think our professor said that it might not work so well with XP and it works fine with Win98. Is there a way to trick the disk into thinking it's running in Win98? Any ideas?
Often, when you get the message "[program name].exe is not a valid Win32 application", it indicates a DOS based program. Try opening it through the DOS command prompt.
the problem with XP is there is no real DOS. have you looked on the companies website to see if the software is supported in xp, maybe they have a patch or a work around to get it working if compatiblity mode doesnt work
How can I run this in compatibility mode when I can't even get it to install???? And to answer the question: There is no patch, etc. It says in the system requirements that it supports Win95 and Win 3.1; so obviously this is old software any other ideas?
Tried running in Compatibility mode and after about 30 secs it just quit reading the disk, should I install Win98 on my computer and just use a dual OS and use Win98 to run the program since this program was originally designed for Win95, therefore is compatible w/ Win98?
