Mitsumi FX320S CD-ROM Dilemma

I went to my friend's house and this is what I have found out for myself:

Every time my friend's daughter inserts a Game CD inside this Mitsumi FX320S !B, it will not read correctly. The track is good (based on what I saw), but for some reason, the CD-ROM isn't reading it.

When she is forced to remove the CD-ROM from the drive, she gets a BSOD every time she removes it. I advise her to not to use the CD-ROM Drive until I get answers for her.

Basically, she just wants to play games on her PC, but the CD-ROM is somewhat not recognizing her games. I know for a fact that the CDs are physically OK by the telling of the track, but I don't know why her Mitsumi CD-ROM can't read her Game CDs.

Any answers is greatly appreciated.

Boot w/ a bootable floppy that offers CD-ROM Support, such as one from Bootdisk.com If you can copy files in DOS, then it's safe to say the drive is okay, just messed up Windows drivers. If you can't, then probably a messed up drive.

UPDATE

The Game CDs that my cousin used worked on the Dell Mini-Tower, but did not work on the Gateway Mini-Tower.

Which means that there is an indication that the CDs are OK but the CD-ROM might have some issues.

Could there be an indication that the CD-ROM might be broken or dead?
