Where is the rest of my bandwidth?

I recently upgraded from a Mcirosoft Wired Base Station router to a D-Link DI-514 wireless router that has 4 ports for wired networking as well. I set it all up, and when only my wired desktop is on the internet, I only get around 2Mbps, whhereas my old router would give me all 3Mbps that I should get. Any ideas?

I don't know if I am reading the specs right but as I read it the router works at the following fallback transfer rates:

11Mbps
5.5Mbps
2Mbps
1Mbps

It may be defaulting to 2Mbps.
