MSN for XP question

Ok my question is: I just moved from 98SE to XP and use messenger a lot. MSN 6 which is provided for all other OSs apart from XP has things like animated emoticons etc but for XP the newest version I can get is 4.7 which doesn't have them. All my friends are talking to me with smileys that are just typed out as text characters at my end. Can I do anything about this or is Microsoft just behind itself?

Just go to MSN website, and download the latest, Version 6.1

never seen this page beforei keep going thru the update procedures in msn and windows. haven't yet found out how to escape the big brother syndrome in xp and it winds me up big time! mite go back a step and buy 2K!!
