Two computers - linux and xp

Hi

I'm trying to connect two computers together via ethernet and a crossover cable. One is running Red hat linux 9.0, while the other is running winxp home. How do I do this? I've got a LAN connection icon on my windows computer, but I can't ping from either side.

Thanks

You need to make sure you have enabled TCP/IP as your protocol stack. Also make sure your ethernet card is working.

You also need to verify that both machines are using the same network IP with different host ID (i.e. 192.168.0.5......192.168.0.7)
To test your NIC's do ipconfig to get your adress and then ping yourself.

plus I think you need to have some shared resources on at least one of the computers for the other computer to have access to it.
