Systems Hard Drive

Hello.

I have a Hard Drive that I have to replace in my main computer, well that's what gateway tells me. When I replace it , is there anyway to retrieve any of the info off the old hard drive?

Also what would you recomend to keep files on incase this happens again?

PS. the code that we are getting is 0258. Anyone now what that is?

Thank you.
Darrell

What are the symptoms? A Gateway code means nothing to most of us.

Can you boot at all? If not can you boot with a floppy and do a "dir c:" on it?

I would suggest that you make your old drive the slave drive and keep it in your system when you get the new drive. You will have to install Windows (or what ever OS you use), then perhaps copy data off of the old drive.

Welcome to TEchIMO!

I find nothing on "code 0258."

If the drive's dead you are out of luck.

If not, then do what amdkt7 says.

There are companies that do hard drive recovery but they are muy exspensivo.

Good luck.
