Systems PC just stopped working.

Hi all, I am fairly new to computers, and a friend gave me a Compaq DeskPro. I don't know very much about it.

Cpu 550 mhz
10 gig hard drive
128 meg of ram.

Well I haven't a clue to where to find the mode number on it.

Here's what happened. It was working fine then it just stopped working.
I can see the green light on the mother board, but nothing
else comes on, not even the fan on the power supply.

I don't have a clue what to check first to see what may be wrong with it. I am sorry if I just sound really stupid.

Thanks

Make sure you get a power supply made especially for that computer though, as it's most likely proprietary. Another one prolly won't even fit, and if it does, it's prolly wired differently.

the deskpro's use a standard PS unless it is one of those small form factor cases...

Hi,
Did you try the following: (please don't get offended if they seem too "simple" :
1) Check if all connections are seated properly conencted to the ports and inside the computer
2) Reset the CMOS
3) Check if there is anything shorting out the computer...

Thanks, Paul

Just to follow up. I found a psu at work today to fit my Compaq, It was in a Compaq that they had stripped down and all that was left was the mother board and the psu. I have my pc back up and running. Thanks again to all that replied.
