PIII 550 temperatures

I've been having lockup problems with my computer lately when playing games, an old p3 550mhz. I downloaded Aida32 to check my temperatures snd the readings I get is that when idle my cpu temp is 41 "C and the MoBo is 62"C! I don't know alot about that kind of stuff but thats got to be hot? When processing alot my cpu goes up to about 51-52 but the Mobo is almost always the same. What do you guys think? I'm curious.

Regards.

Could be a couple of things. First off, your temp reading program may be reading the mobo temp wrong. Second, it could be that the temp sensor is at the northbridge on the motherboard. I don't know how many northbridge heatsinks I've seen that had no thermal compound on them, and, if you looked closely, you could see a tiny gap between the chip and the heatsink. That little air gap is worse than no heatsink at all. Check that out and slap a little thermal goop on the northbridge heatsink and see if the problem doesn't clear up.

The CPU temps look fine, BTW.
