Play DOD? 1.1 SUCKS!
OMG!!! I'm usually an open-minded person, I usually let things work themselves out, but this is just stupid.
1) Whether or not this just in 1.1 or not, it is JUST in dod. While in CS and other mods i get 25 ping, in DOD i just nothing less than 80.
2) FPS! I have a Radeon 9800 Pro and I'm pulling 80 fps most of the time, but if there are more than 4 people on the screen, or is god forbid, a FLAG! then my FPS drop to around 50. I know 50 doesn't seems bad, but remember I just bought a $400 video card and I shoudln;t be getting 50 fps in a 5 year-old game.
3)The text!! It's horrible!! It's huge! (huge like..... really big!!) and it's some other text than the normal text it used to be. Whatever font it is, it's a lot harder to read. I am running @ 1280x1024 and everything is SO big!!
4) When you hold tab, your name isn't highlighted.
5) IT's A DAMN BETA!!!! Excuse my language, but it really makes me angry that this is a mandatory beta test. Contradictory and HORRIBLE
6) 75% of people seem to have the problem of not being able to update from 1.0. It seems that the development team knows about this, and says simply delete your current cache file, and download it again. OH NO PROB, dod team!! I'll just sit back and download the 350MB FILE !! While I'm on a 1500kbs connection, alot aren't and downloading 350MB files heres and there isn't fun for anyone.
7) WHY CHANGE WHAT ISN'T BROKEN!!!!! I have played DOD since beta 5 or around there. actually i remember playing 1.0 before so.. well, whatever, it's been a long time. Everysingle dod update has been great so far. Since it has gone reatil (ver 1.0) i have got 7 friends to join me in playing DOD. (3 have 56k, and 4 broadband) Well, basically the 56k people have died since steam came out. Now that 300MB+ cache files are required to play ANY mod. my broadband friends and I created a little clan and we played every weekend togather for the past few months. As far as we could tell, nothing was wrong! Now they go and release some crappy BETA that changes TONS of attributes in the game?? I don't understand.
I like STEAM, if u have broadband, but DOD has gone down the crapper as of 11.14.03.
To sum this all up... BRING BACK 1.0 please!
