UMAX ASTRA 2000U SCANNER

I am having problems with a UMAX ASTRA 2000U Scanner. It was working fine until recently, when I try to test it using the software the motor runs and the scanner moves to the end. But the motor keeps on running but the scanner has already reached the end. The problem is the scanner does not stop, it keeps on running. Using Windows 98 operating system, IBM System.
