Recover emails from curropted outlook

My outlook 2000 will not start, and it has been a while since my last backup...anybody knows of a way to get the emails back?
If I reinstall outlook - will it be able to access the previous emails and contacts?

Find your .pst file and copy it to a new folder. After re-install try File->Import...

Might also try opening OE and try file import->point to .pst file..
