usb mass storage==scsi device

I'm looking to buy a super-cheap digital camera (I have my eye on this one.

From here:

USB mass storage interface for quick image transfer
Does this mean I could just plug it in and
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1

?

Sam

Yes. should work staight up. Will probably automout, depending on your distro. Mine does. (Drake 9.1) Although, I modify it slightly ....

I dont mount anything under /mnt. I mount CD's at /cdrom & /cdburner (old-time Unix habit) and I link /dev/sda1 to /dev/camera.

Hm, one yes and one maybe...

Going on that, I went ahead and bought one, and on the chance it doesn't work I'll just buy one of those super cheap multi-reader deals.

Thanks all,
Sam

In theory yes it will work. But some devices that advertise to be mass storage compatible aren't and won't work with Linux. I bought a card reader thinking it would work, and it wouldn't. Even at 133Mhz FSB. Be warned.
Other than that, you have the right idea about mounting it.
