I WAS WONDERING IS THERE SOMETHING THAT CAN BLOCK ,OTHER PEOPLE TO CHECK MY IP ADDRESS. OR WHAT CAN I DO , TO STOP PEOPLE FROM LOOKING AT MY IP. THE RESON , I WAS AT THIS IRC CHAT ROOM AND I ASK THAT QUESTION AND THIS GUYS GOES R U FROM #@# AND I SAID YES THEN HE SAID THE CITY AND I WAS LIKE WHAT THE #%$^ SO HOW CAN I PREVENT THAT . THANK YOU SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.

Mmmkay... if people are so sorry about the caps, why don't they just type the message in lowercase, with proper use of caps, instead of just typing it out, and then adding 'sorry' at the end?

Find one that you like.

i wouldnt worry about it man. just bc he knows the city you live in doesnt mean anything. the way he found this out was he looked up your ip on one of many sites allowing you to do so for free (its not hacking or anything, its not illegal either). when he looked it up it told him what isp you were using. then using that he found where that isp was located. but thats all he will be able to find out unless he is ub3r 1337 and hacks into the isp to find out your personal info. so i wouldnt worry about it.

and if you are still worried, davidmalarky has a very good suggestion. or try searching for "free proxy server" same thing just a different name.

and chill with the caps, it makes me want to strangle you with my eyeballs.

When in irc, usually your ip is resolved to hostname and used as your host. Eg. mono11@12345.mywashingtondcisprocks.com

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess your from washington dc. Of course you could be from somewhere else

Anonymizing proxies can be used (I guess markley was that), but why bother, no one really cares where you live.

I can use that to get pinpointed geographical info on any IP you can give me...

I traced a friend's IP once, and got a satellite image of his house...

Anyway, yeah, privacy is really nonexistent on the 'net, well, 'nonexistant' may only be partially true, but no matter how good you are, someone/something, somewhere has some info about where you are, what you are doing ATM, and while that won't just "go away", you also don't really need to worry about it.

Just about anyone can get common info about a person. It's become too easy nowadays. So, don't sweat it, and no we don't know what you've been doing on your computer, so quit typing in all caps, it makes you look suspicios...
