HL server question

I've seen a bunch of comments that contradict each other so I need someone to tell me a straight answer.

Is CS 1.5 dead NOW?

How do I adjust my HL server to run 1.6?

to get 1.6 first you need to download steam

from the steam games menu download the dedicated server

then its just like setting up a listen server on 1.5.

Well, there are always the 1.6 nazis (using nazi as a loose term here), but generally, yes, 1.5 is dead.

But when you do the compaison, there are still some servers playing 1.3. The problem is that Valve is ditching WON Authentication. This means, no wonIDs. Instead, they've replaced it with steamids. Without the WON auth system, pre 1.6 servers wont be able to run.
