Please Help !

When I start my computer, its shows an error msg "/windows/system32/systme" is missing, how do i just copy the file to my computer to replace it from windows xp cdrom?

I am using windows xp pro, when in dos mode I type

copy system c:\windows\system32\system , but it won't work, please help, thanks in advance

Have you tried using the System File Checker?

Or maybe a Windows XP Repair?

Thanks for the help, I did try those two...but no lucks I guess I will try to reinstall the windows but not sure if it will work, anyone else have any opinions? please help and thank you

hmmm.....an xp repair is essentially doing the same thing as an install.
If your sure you did the repair properly, than maybe starting from scratch is your best bet.

I agree, its just that I don't know the exac command to copy the files i need to windows dir the only file i need is the system file, so any other opinions? thank you very much

That's the name of the file?
Or is that the name of a folder?
The only file with the name system on that folder (at least on my PC) is called system.drv.!?

well, system is the word that the error indicates, i am trying something right now, and see if its gonna work

actually.. I belive that error is indicating the system hive of the registry.. could be a fun one to fix...

So you can't even log in in Safe Mode??
If you can, you can just restore to an earlier date.

I was going to suggest that earlier, but 9/10 users don't create restore points.
