broadband shutting off

Whenever i leave my computer idle for more than about 2 hours or more, my broadband connection loses connection throughout the whole house and i have to restart the routers, motems, etc. What do you guys think i can do to help stop this? I"d like to at least leave my computer on overnight to finish up some downloading. Thanks for any help.

Also, double check your router for a "keep alive connection" setting (usually on the basic setup page). My Linky has this feature.

I don't see anything related when you say to uncheck the "allow the computer to turn off this device." I'm not sure if it's my hardware or what. I'm on windows 2kpro and using netgear equipment for everything in the house except the modem (from speedstream). Thanks.
