Have you entered bios to make sure you boot from cdrom? Or does the bios have a password that you can't get pass. If it is the bios you may be able to clear the cmos to clear the password. If it is the drive then you may be able to slave the drive into another computer and fdisk then format it.

sounds like you are saying it has a bios password. If you formatted and it is still there it pretty much has to be the bios.

Just "clear" the bios. There should be a little jumper beside the bios battery. The battery is on the motherboard..it looks like a nickel layed flat. Take a flashlight and read what the jumper says...they almost all have it written there what to do. Usually there are the "posts" and the jumper will be on two of them...so just move it over to so it is on the other post and the center post....sounds complicated but it isnt.

Leave it there for 20 seconds or so...then put it back the way it was.

Reboot...you will probably need to run thru the bios to make sure stuff is where it should be..cuz at this point it will be "reset" to the defaults.

Good Luck, JP

Also, if you cant figure out the jumper thing..just take the battery out for a while....with the comp unplugged...that will do it also.

Finally:
This is directions for getting around the passwords on XP From here you remove or change the password. Let me know if this works.
This info was copied from:The LangaList Standard Edition 2003-02-24

Anyone with a Windows 2000 CD can boot up a Windows XP box and start the Windows 2000 Recovery Console, a troubleshooting program.

Windows XP then allows the visitor to operate as Administrator without a password, even if the Administrator account has a strong password.

The visitor can also operate in any of the other user accounts that may be present on the XP machine, even if those accounts have passwords.

Unbelievably, the visitor can copy files from the hard disk to a floppy disk or other removable media - something even an Administrator is normally prevented from doing when using the Recovery Console.
