Hrd Coding Product Key in Office2000 CD

In regards to Office 2000, is there a way to hard code the product key, registration name and company in the install files and burn it to a cd. This way when I install the software it will not ask me for this information, or at least be filled in already.

best I can recommend is to put the key # into a text file, and then burn it to a CD under the root directory. It isn't embedded into the program, but is on the disk. That should be better then losing the key again.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, but I know there is a way to embed it into the installation, I have seen it before at previous jobs, but I don't know how to do it.

Yeah, it can be done. Someone has it setup at work to do just what he's asking. You can do the same thing for the some of the later versions of Windows too. I'll ask the lady that most likely did it tomorrow. We don't get along too well so she most likely tell me that she 'doesn't remember' but it can't hurt (too much anyway) to ask.

You have to edit the "Setup.ini" file located in the root of the CD.

You'll have to copy the CD over to your HDD, edit the file, then burn the CD again.

I'm looking on the M$ KB to see, I know it's somewhere under the [OPTIONS], I just can't remember the format.

I create a network installation point and don't even use the CDs nor registration info.
You can use a similar method to create the files to put on CD.

Administrative Installations
To create an administrative installation for localized versions or MultiLanguage Packs, you use the command Setup.exe /a (as you do for other Office 2000 products). You can create an administrative installation on a server and then run client installations from that location, or you can distribute CD-ROMs to users and let them perform the installation.

Okay, under [OPTIONS]

PIDKEY=12345ABCDE12345ABCDE12345
USERNAME=Name
USERINITIALS=LOL
COMPANYNAME=Organization

*Be sure to uncomment [OPTIONS] or else it won't work*
