Hmm...More RAM and a better Vid Card wouldn't hurt for gaming
BTW-what is this system used for?

and a top of the line power cord... that black cord could make or break a system...

in all seriousness, i agree about the ram and vid card, although i think that vid card is better than mine....

if you arent gaming, then that is a great system...

I would add another 256Mb PC3200, that way you'll get dual channel as well.

And if you plan on lotsa gaming, get at least the 9500 or Pro or the 9600(Pro)

The FX5200 performs worse then a Geforce 3.

Or if ya don't wanna spend the money for the ATI card, get a Ti4200 128Mb, that can be had for under 100 bucks and will give you very nice performance.

But I'd go with the 9500/9600 and if ya can cough it up, maybe even a 9700.

the fx5200 is an ok card . most people here frown on them but it is OK the 9600pro is better . but you do want to add more memory .

if you go with an amd setup instead of intel you can also have some money left over to get the added memory and the 9600 mostlikely and still spend the same money . don't get me wrong the intel is good BUT it costs alot more . a 2.4 800fsb retail cpu will run you about 185$ give or take a couple dollars . you can get a GOOD amd motherboard and a xp2500 retail for that price alone . so the 90$ the intel motherboard cost could be put to the ram and maybe upgrading the video . also the onboard sound on the nforce chipset boards is VERY good so you might also be able to drop the sound card out and save the money from that also . if you go that way you could easily move up to a 9700pro or a fx5900

just a thought

^^^agreed. going with amd will save u a lot of money that can be put towards other parts. and the preformence difference between a p4 2.4 and the xp 2500 is not that big. actually......i think the xp 2500+ is faster most of the time.
