Resolution Problem

I'm having a bit of a problem with my display.

I have a Samtron SC-428VS on a ATI 3D Rage Pro card running on Windows 98se.

My monitors max resolution is 1024x768 but for some reason I can only get it up to 800x600. I tried downloading more up-to-date drivers for my video card but that made matters worse.

Before I could use 640x480, 800x600 & I could put it up to 1024x768 (albeit the screen was messed up and flickering and needed putting back into 800x600). With the updated drivers, it's stuck in 800x600 and can't even be changed.

I did in the past use Windows 200 Pro which would work in 1024x768, but only at a refresh rate of I think 40hz(interlaced). I dunno if this is a helpful fact but there it is.

I also tried a program called HZTool.exe, it worked once, but now I just get the same result as changing under display properties.

- Can anyone give me any advice on how to get my resolution up to 1024x768?

PS. I do intend to upgrade my monitor anyway, but I would like to find an answer for my problem.

Is the Operating System detecting your monitor as a Default Monitor, a plug n play monitor, or by it's name.
If the manufacturer of the monitor supplies drivers, you can download these drivers and see if that helps you with your problem.

It detects it as Default Monitor, but I already have downloaded the correct drivers from Samtron & HP (I tried both of my monitors).
