Kids Which Computer brand should I consider?

Okay so here is the deal, I am wanting to buy a new computer since mine is a bit old. I dont want to buy a custom computer, a computer from a brand will be easier and better for me. I am willing to pay lets say max. $1500 bucks for a machine and I want to know which brand delivers best performance and best quality for this price. I have heard Dell is great, and IBM is better but its expensive. Whats your opinion? I am not going to build a computer myself since this machine will be used for business only (and some gaming) Should I go for a Dell?

I've had good luck with Dell Dimension series, plus they run some great deals that are hard to pass up (free upgrades, free shipping, and rebates). I've bought a few systems for friends too and they have been very happy. For $1500 you can get a pretty awesome computer with a flat panel monitor too.

Go to this website and check out the latest deal at Dell:

Dells are good computers and we use them where i work. Two things i dont like about dell.

1. Tech support seems to be getting worse. I have spent alot of time on the phone with them for simple things.
2. No AMD CPU desktops, or servers for that matter.

We have gotten some new HPs though. So far so good with them. They have AMD Athlon XP CPUs and i did open one up when it came in, and to my surprise it had the nForce2 IGP chipset. Dual monitor support was built in. I have not dealt with HP's tech support though.

So my vote is for HP or Dell.

Well I think Dell has the best deal. I really like IBM but they are so expensive. HP I dont think I would get since they recently joined together with Compaq which I dont like and upgrade wise they suck. I am very interested in the Dell Dimension 8300 which I can get for the price I am willing to spend with some nice stuff. What about other brands? Is there someone I have to check out?
Thanks for the replies anyways

Yeah, I have heard about the ABS computers through magazines but I dont know if they are only available in the states. The thing is thats how I want the machines to be. They offer really powerful stuff for a reasonable price. Tell your friend I have something in common with him about being a chicken

... the Sony Vaio's are nice, their RS420 (P4 2.8 w/HT) uses lots of great componets... the mobo is made by Asus, the DVD is +/- RW (Pioneer 106D) and althought it doesn't have the greatest Radeon graphics card, the 9200 is better than most you find in "store" bought units. Price right now around $1050 w/o monitor... but, the Samsung 17" LCD (172n) is great for around $450....

.... well, blew that $1500

for Sony computers. Have tried them and they simply suck. No offence, just my opinion based on experience.
