Systems WinXP or IE6 prob? = can't use enhanced graphics/text mode in Yahoo! or Hotmail.

I am using WinXP with IE6. This is a "new" pc (refurbished), and I have only been using it for two days, and the problem has been there since the start.

I can only type plain text in the compose areas of Yahoo! and Hotmail = no fancy fonts, colors or icons.

I have done searches all over and can not find anything relative to this problem.

Currenly, I'm doing chat help with HP to try and figure it out, and am getting absolutely NOWHERE.

(No firewalls, either.)

Any suggestions?

As far as I know freebie hotmail and yahoo doesn't provide for special icons, nor speical fonts or colors. You need to add the html markup yourself.

Sorry, Richee, U B wrong: Yahoo! and Hotmail both have optional enhanced mode: add color to the fonts, change fonts, select little icons...

yes optional being the keyword. If you having issues with an added service from hotmail or yahoo then it wouldn't be related to your computer. Check your account info on each maybe there is an issue there. Unless I've always had the same issue and never noticed it before. There is no option to add smiles/icons or change fonts or font colors on either my yahoo or hotmail accounts
