USB ports no longer working...

One day the computers fine, the next day I turn it on it "Disk Read Error, press CRTL+ALT+DELETE to restart".
This goes on for several reboots until I leave the computer alone for a few hours, come back, and it turns on without the message.

So now my USB devices aren't being detected. Detected hardware. Un-plugged them, restarted. Nothing.

XP.

I also noticed that quite a few files from my MP3 folder got corrupted after the downer.

I'm guessing it's a harddrive problem that's effect the USB drivers but I don't know how I can fix this without rebooting the computer.

This happened on my old computer and tech support had me yank a few obscure files off of the windows 98 disk to get the USB running.
