New PC - GAME PC - need help
Hi,
I'm going to buy a new pc, but i'm not 100 % sure about the components, so please tell me what you think of this configuration :
CPU : AMD Athlon 2500+ (Barton)
MOB : ASUS A7V8X Deluxe rev 2.x
RAM : Kingston HyperX DDR-3200 1024 MB(2x512 DUAL CHANNEL)
GFX : NVidia GEforce FX 5700 Ultra (which one ??)
DVD : ASUS DVD-E616P
HDD : Western Digital 1200JD (120 GB) S-ATA
POW : Enermax 350 Watt
I'm not sure about the the DVD and the gfx card. I want to have ASUS
hardware as much as possible for optimal performance and stability.
Noise is also a very important for me, so plz suggest some 'low noise'
hardware.
If you have a complete new suggestion, tell me about it. I'm looking for
a --GAME PC-- for a maximum of 1100 $/EUR (without monitor) [i only need the things i mentioned above]

I would get a better PSU, 400watt and up, specially if you plan on adding parts later on.

You might want to look into an ATI card for your GFX. A 9700 Pro or 9800 Pro. Other than that and Droppyale's suggestion, your setup looks really good.
Have fun building. |

Do I really need a 400+ PSU ? I dont want to spend more than 80 Euros. I just want a stable PSU with a LOW NOISE technologie.
I've tried to find a good FX 5700U card, but i couldnt find any fx5700U compare test. Maybe someone has a link or a good advice for me ?
ps : thx 4 support |

No, you don't, I have a Generic 300W in my PC:
Asus A7N8X-X (Crap MOBO)
AMD Athlon 2500+ Barton
GeForce 4 Ti4200
80GB Maxtor 7200RPM HD
1x Floppy
1x CD-RW
Your 350W should be fine.

Have fun building. | That's definitely what I reccommend!
So I second this.
You can also look into the Radeon 9600 XT line which is proven to be faster than the 5700 at least with FSAA and Anisotropic filtering turned ON, but not by much.! (go for the ceapest of the 2 I guess.! )
About the GFX 5700 .... http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031023/index.html http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1910
There are probably more reviews in hardocp and other places. But
Neither card (9600 or 5700) can touch the 9700 Pro for price/performance right now. So ... you decide!

Looks like a great machine you dreamed up NMS. I also agree that you should check into the ATI line...say like a 9600 pro. I have approximately the same setup, except i use a Antec True 420 watt psu, a 9600pro, and a lite-on 16x dvd-rom. About your dvd drive, if you want a quieter machine, I personally can tell you that lit-on drives are more reliable, and quieter than most brands out there today. (IMO) As others recommended, Up the psu size. 350watts is a little low for your machine specs...those components are all so power hungry
Hope you have a fun time with your Machine. Good luck!
PS: Welcome to Techimo!!!

Your 350W should be fine. | generic 300 carries this setup ? what are your specs ? Amps
usually a ageneric 400 will have trouble with something this heavy
