"system failed memory test"!!

normally i bootup and it says :system completed power on self test" this time it said "system failed memory test". what memory? what's that mean? i'm still using it? anyone know what this is all about?

my system:
asus a7n8x deluxe
512 mb crucial ddr
athlon xp 2500 + barton
maxtor hd

That would mean that your 512 mb crucial ddr did not pass the POST test.

One stick or two?

If 2 try booting with only one and see if you get the same message. If that passes or fails switch them out and check the other stick.
