Systems Audio Crackling

Alright here goes again, hoping someone out there can solve my problem, I Have the ASUS P4C800 Deluxe, and I use the onboard 6 channel audio, which is awesome, but no matter what I listen to, mp3's or audio from a game when Im playing, I always have crackling noises every once and awhile, kinda makes me angry, anyone have any clue on how to fix this? When I play normal CD's there is no crackling though which is cool. And I really dont feel like purchashing a new sound card, so any help would be greatful, thanks!

While you're playing digital music, are you doing anything that would involve large blocks of data being accessed from the hard drive(s)? Often this will eat just enough CPU power to stutter music. I'm not sure if it'll cause it crackle, but I get the stutter affect all the time on my nForce2 board.

Also, I just read on another board where the onboard NIC was the cause of sound crackling. After putting in a PCI NIC, the problem went away. Might want to try that if you've got a NIC laying around.

I think I might know the problem. When you're not playing CDs, try muting the CD Player volume in the Volume Control.
