ATTN! AOL Users

Need some advise here. I am needing to send some email to a family member and they use AOL. The problem is that when they recieve my emails they don't get the links like I send them. The links are NOT hyperlinked to where they are when I send them.

So how can I make it so when they get my email that the links are hyperlinked or is that something they got to do on thier end?

Don't mention telling them to copy and paste I have already taught them that and its a pain in the arse when they got several links from me.

I want them to be able to click on my link and go directly to the page without any extra work.

Thanks

What client and format are you using? If you're pasting the URL as text and the message is in RTF or HTML, there should be no problem.

AOL mail can certainly handle URLs, unless there's some new security thing in 9.0 that I'm unaware of.

Are they using aol 9.0?

If they are they will have to disable the aol (link) button on the top right when they open their email box. Then if they hit that and you send a link that link should then work just fine. That is the only thing I could think of when i read your thread. Hope it helps.

Remember, when ya send a link, just copy/paste it to the email and send it out...never failed for me, except when the link button was enabled.

hi again,

They don't have anything that reads enable hyperlinks or allow hyperlinks. Told them to look in the upper right corner of the email.

They are using version 8.0

How about me??? Not sure what you are asking.

Anyways, I got to thinking, could it possibly be that they get my emails without the hyperlink since I only send and recieve in text only? This is using Outlook, I only use text only both ways however within my text I can see them hyperlinked so would that make a difference in how i send it????

How does AOL recieve emails by default? HTML? or something else?

aol doesn't see hyperlinks the same as normal email programs/webmail programs do but you can send them as something like aol href:http:// your link or something like that

I think even with 8.o you now have to go to your mail prefferences and allow links and images but i'll check it out on the other comp and see

well 8.0 doesnt have the hyperlink button. only 9.0. And to awnser your question, I use outlook often and have no problems sending links in it and they always work...Try emailing a link to yourself and see if its working correctly.
