Need help cloning a HD
Hi all!
I'm having some difficulty installing a WD 120GB HD into my system. I'm running Win2k but my old drive was left as a FAT32 drive. (Did that because I like the idea of using a DOS boot disk if there is a problem.)
I physically installed the new drive as cable select as my 0 drive, and left the old drive installed as the 1 drive. That is, the new drive is on the end of the IDE cable and the old one is on the center connector. Both say they support cable select.
I ran WD's utility to format and copy the data over to the new drive. At the end of the process, it gets an error and when I reboot, it ends up at a C: prompt. Using DOS, I can see that data was transferred, but I'm not sure if all of the data was transferred.
I then tried using the utility to format first, and then transfer. Same outcome.
I checked WD's website and they recommend checking to see that the drive is installed properly (it appears to be and this isn't my first time doing this), check that it is installed in the bios correctly (it is), and then it says something about not being able to install a HD of larger than 32GB in FAT32 (yet the utility clearly lets you). In the end, it also says that you can clone the data in Win2k without the utility, but the link to that is somewhat confusing.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Dana
P.S. I have Norton Ghost, so I'm wondering if that's the way to go ...
