Best way to speed up XP
I installed windows XP on my laptop, a P166, and it, needless to say, runs just a bit slow, and I want to speed up XP by disabling features if possible. I installed TweakUI and LiteXP (demo of LiteXP), and it made some difference, are there any other good speed improving tools?

Honestly I think you just put 20lbs of potatoes in a 5lb bag. You're just not going to see much a of difference tweaking XP when you're using a P166 processor. I recommend a nice clean install of Windows 95 or 98 to get some decent usability from the machine.
Sorry, probably not the answer you wanted to hear.

that system is way below the min requirements for xp to give any kind of acceptal performance, no matter how much you tweak it.
it still will not run very well, yoyu more than likely don't have very much ram for it to run eather.
you would be much to put 98se on that system and get some use out of it.

Well, thanks for the links. I had 95 on it before, I figured I should try my luck with XP again (tryed it a few times before, gave up on it for various reasons). I will put XP on it when I need to go on a long trip, its thumbnails come in handy when I transfer images from my camera, and need to look through them without having to open ACDSee or PSP7 to use their thumbnail features. Last time I had XP on it, I 'caught' the Blaster virus and just reverted to 95. The thing about 95 is, I can't get the quick launch toolbar to work, even after installing IE 5.5, and it has compatibility issues with my modem and my CF card adapter, they can't be in at the same time.

| I know this isn't your initial problem, but just for the record, if you install IE 4.0 before any other versions you will get the quick launch back. It might be hard to find online but can easily be found on old modem driver cds |

a P166 Are you kidding XP usually requires Pentium 233 as minimum specs.
You want best speed, get a new processor or a new laptop man
