Kids Sircam32 Virus Recovery?

About a year ago I unknowingly unleashed Sircam32 from quarantine and it corrupted everything on my primary and backup drives.

I've preserved a large number of Jpeg files ... family photos and such ... all of which are damaged.

Does anyone have software or a technique for restoring these files?

As far as I know there is no way to preserve the files and remove the worm.

To permanently remove risk of infection you need to delete all the files or wait for someone to come up with a method of removal without damaging the files.
Go here for more info: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ven...alinstructions

and here for a removal tool: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ven...m.worm@mm.html

Use the Sircam removal tool.
Follow the instructions.

Always run antivirus program to remove re-infection risk.

Send a message via AIM to Gettinbye
Found a link ( http://www.russkelly.com/sircamvirusltr.html )
that claims " there is a recovery tool that will fix every problem caused by the virus EXCEPTING if your drive has been waxed", but it points to the Symantec website. Might be something to check into. However, I'd have to concur with Vern-I don't know that there is any software (yet) to fix the damage done. Don't think I'm willing to infect my box with sircam to find out...

Thanks, Gettinbye and no1_vern. I'll use your input to see if I can recover those pix. Wish me luck.
