Well, first off, welcome to TechIMO. Secondly, perhaps you could give a bit more info on your computer. Are you sure you have more than one "drive" or hdd or are you refering to one disc partitioned into two or more "logical" drives? Why exactly do you feel you need to make the one with more "memory" the primary? Lastly, we don't normally refer to the free space on a "drive" as memory but rather storage capacity. What exactly are you attempting to accomplish and why?

Basically you need two things...you need a program like Norton Ghost and you need a spare hard drive.

"ghost" is a program that allows you to copy exactly one hard drive to another.

You ghost the main hard drive to the spare hard drive.....then you boot off of the spare hard drive to make sure that all the info was copied over correctly.

If that part worked you then use ghost to copy your second drive (the larger one) over to the first drive (smaller one).

The you would boot off of the spare drive with the larger drive now in as the second drive......making sure that IT got copied over correctly.

If that step is ok, you finally copy from the spare drive to the larger drive....and then you boot with the larger drive in as first drive and the smaller one in as second drive.

Sort of a juggling act.

Or, using norton Ghost..you could just make a cd backup of each drive and then swap the drives and restore the backup to the opposite drive etc. You make a cd backup by using the "disk to image" option and pointing to your cdrw drive as the destination for the image.

For both of these options you first install norton ghost and then you make the boot floppy. You boot off of the floppy to actually do the ghosting part.

yeah i have more than one drive my first is a lousy 7.25 gig and my second i got not to long ago is 15 gig

i need to make the change considering i only have 19kb "storage capacity" on my now primary drive(the one with 7.25gigs on it)

basicaally i want to take the drive that i just bought and make it so anything that gets saved will automatically default to the 15gig drive

the old drive will now serve simply as storage for my old programs
