Its a slot one....you are better off in this case getting a "slocket" and trying a socket 370 P3.
The slocket may need to be the type that allows "coppermine" cpu's to work on "ppga" boards.
There is also some data on intels site about changing the value of some components on the board to allow faster processors...if you know someone who is really good with a soldering iron you may consider that route.

Is it a standard atx case? Possibly a different board would be easier to work with...especially if it uses a standard power supply. In that case you can get a decent motherboard combo and a bigger psu and youre set.
If you have a friend with some spare socket 370 cpus you can experiment with the slocket route...personally I would try that..cuz I have some spare parts. Slockets are sorta hit or miss...you just hafta try em to see whats up.
But a slot1, 1Ghz P3 is gonna set you back some bucks.
