Networking problem.

Ok i know this might seem to belong in Networking & Internet but it my be a number of other things so... Anyway, my problem is that i put in a new graphics card (listed below) and my network card starts acting up it says it is connected to the network but it won't get a ip address.
So I formatted after fiddling with it awhile. (Needed to do it anyway.) And put Redhat and XP on (Which was a paradox in itself, but thats another story) Now it works fine in Redhat but not in XP. Please help as I am looking foward to playing Halo () and need to update my graphics drivers first. (Redhat won't talk to XP right now, hopeing to remedy it soon.)

Oh any leads on a linux driver for ATI Rage Fury Maxx that supports 3D would be greatlly apperciated. (Or to at least get it to run.)

Here are my system specs:

Before format:
Windows XP
Diamond Stealth 3 S540 xtreme (:P)
384.42M RAM
Pentium 3 935.465 MHz
Lite-On Comunications Inc LNE100TX
Ensoniq Creative Soundblaster AudioPCI128

After format:
Dual boot Windows XP/Redhat 7.2
ATI Rage Fury Maxx
384.42M RAM
Pentium 3 935.465 MHz
Lite-On Comunications Inc LNE100TX
Ensoniq Creative Soundblaster AudioPCI128

Well Its been over a day and no replys (big surprise) I think it may be a problem with it shareing IRQ 11 with my graphics card as it doesn't seem to be doing this under Redhat. Unfourtunatlly it won't let me change it to test that.

What device other than your graphics card is sharing IRQ 11? Also, what do you mean RedHat cannot "see" windows XP? from what you have described, i am assuming that your system is dual booted?

what version of RedHat? Did you install windows XP first then RedHat? have you told your motherboard's BIOS that there is a PNP OS installed?

As far as i know nothing, My usb ports might be but they are also under Linux so i dought that is the problem. Redhat isn't talking to the XP drives. (A unpartitoned 20 gig drive and a 10 gig split in half. Half for Linux, half for Windows.(i need lost of space for winndows.)) And I said I was dual booting under system specs.

OK so my sound cards (one built into the motherboard) are also on IRQ 11 but i think they always have. I need to know how to change them.

I had an issue on time with a sound card and a nic...or was it a mode? cant remember.

Anyway, I knew the modem was good but it would not install correctly...or it would install but lockup when you tried to use it. I couldnt figure it our for a while.

Turns out it was sharing an irq with the onboard soundcard....and there was no way to change either. So I disabled the soundcard altogether and installed the modem and it worked fine....THEN I enabled the sound card again and they worked fine together after that.

So maybe you can try to disable the sound card first and see if that makes a difference..and then enable it after the other stuff works.

Ok it must be the onboard one then. I don't need it anyway. (though it has never caused a problem before when everything was fine) Wierd i guess the new graphics card caused it to change it's IRQ although now it won't change anything.
